We want you to feel totally comfortable with our procedures and approach before we come to your home. Accordingly, this outlines the steps involved. Please spend a few moments reviewing our procedures. |
 |
- We require an appointment, which can be set up by calling Botox-at-home. Appointments can be arranged for most days and evenings, and depending upon our schedule, within a one to two week window.
- Please read the list of contraindications (found in the Make An Appointment tab), or situations that would make the Botox Cosmetic® treatments impossible. If you are experiencing any of these situations, please advise the doctor in advance, as we will not administer the treatment.
- When you book an appointment with a Botox-at-home doctor, you will be asked to provide a $100 + GST deposit. This amount can be paid with your VISA card. Sorry, we do not accept cheques, debit cards, other credit cards or cash. The purpose of this deposit is to offset the costs of the medical staff visiting your location. If you cancel your appointment with at least 48 hours notice, the deposit will be credited back to you. If you fail to notify us within this timeframe, this deposit will be forfeited. Importantly, the deposit is immediately deducted from the cost to any treatment undertaken at the confirmed appointment.
- Depending upon the situation, you alternatively may wish to speak to one of our medical staff in advance of the appointment, or alternately, you may want to arrange the appointment with the medical staff member directly. This is not a problem. Please remember to contact our office to secure your deposit prior to your appointment.
- For the appointment, please make sure that you can be free from any obligations, such as taking care of children, parents, or answering the telephone. The total time from the point our medical staff arrives in your home until departure should be between 30 and 45 minutes. Please also make sure that your face and neck are clean and that you are wearing no makeup. We do not apply Botox Cosmetic® to areas outside of the face and neck.
- Our medical staff will generally call in advance of the appointment to confirm that he or she is on schedule.
- The appointment will start with a discussion of the treatment and a further review of the contraindications. This will assess your eligibility for treatment. If in our medical staff’s opinion, you are ineligible for treatment, we will advise you, and your deposit will be credited to your VISA account.
- Prior to any treatment, you will be asked to sign a Medical Consent Form, If you wish to review in advance, click here to download a copy of this form. The physician will bring a copy.
- We will discuss the treatment with you in detail as well as the costs involved. You will be asked to sign a VISA bill for the amount outlined, which will reflect a deduction from the deposit previously taken. As well, there is a $50 + GST surcharge for appointments outside of our normal call area (see Making an Appointment section for details). Beyond this, you will never be asked for any additional funds or payments whatsoever. There are no additional administration or supplemental fees.
- If after meeting our physician, you decide NOT to undertake the treatment, the advance deposit will be considered a professional consultation fee, and it will not be refunded.
- Before the treatment starts, we generally take a digital photograph. This photo is for medical purposes only. It forms part of your permanent record, and will never be released without your expressed written permission. The photo is taken to assist us in reviewing on-going treatment.
- We generally perform the treatment in the room with the best lighting. This can be the kitchen, den or bathroom. Treatments will not be performed in a bedroom. Please consider the best location for a treatment in advance of our arrival. Note, we will also perform the treatment in the privacy of your office.
- The procedure itself will take between 10 to 15 minutes, depending upon your personal requirements. There may be slight discomfort from the needles that are inserted just below the surface of the skin.
- After Botox is placed into the targeted muscles, the weakening effect gradually begins over 2 to 7 days and is not complete for two weeks. Generally expect to see results within 5 to 7 days after treatment.
- Botox Cosmetic® therapy is temporary; meaning it will have to be performed on a regular basis to remain effective. Nonetheless, you may stop and restart treatments at any time without negative effect. How long each treatment lasts will depend on many individual factors including the degree of sun damage present, the depth of the lines, the size and strength of the muscles, the amount of Botox used, the frequency of re-treatment and the speed of your own muscles' repair mechanism. An average response is 3 to 4 months of benefit. Individual responses may be longer or shorter depending on the above factors. Please read the Post-Treatment Instructions.
- We may contact you for follow up at two weeks and/or at 3 months after your treatment. If we have not contacted you, please feel free to call us.
- Touch Ups: From time to time, some customers feel that a touch up is necessary. If this is the case, please discuss it directly with the medical professional who administered your treatment.
